How much does a typical solar PV system cost?

Average systems range between $10,000 to $30,000, and can be lower or higher. It depends on many factors: commercial or residential; pitch, contours, and direction of roof; size of roof space or ground mount space to be utilized; and the type of panels you choose. We like to provide several options for your specific site, explain the pros and cons of each, and then let you decide.

Can I finance a solar PV system? Should I buy or lease?

Yes. There are many ways you can finance your solar PV system, and we can recommend several options. We like to say, “You can either finance an asset or pay the utility company, it’s your choice.” If your goal is financial return and you have the cash, buying is your best option. If you’re looking for an effective way to offset your energy bills and pay the system over time, financing is a good option.

Do I need to have 100% exposure to the sun facing south?

No. Solar technologies have become very advanced. Even if your roof slopes east or west and has several trees, there may still be good solar potential. When we design your system, we’ll run a shading performance analysis to show you just how much energy you can expect to produce, then walk you through the best solar products for your site.

What happens to my solar panels when it snows?

Your solar panels will continue to produce energy, but their efficiency drops. Winter months are the least productive time for solar anyway, as the sun is low and the days are short, so losses in the snowy months are small compared to total annual production. If you need more winter production (for example, off-grid systems), adjusting the tilt of your panels or adding a cleaning system may be an option.

Do I need to replace my roof before adding solar panels?

Solar panels can last 25 to 35+ years, outlasting most roofs, and they protect the roof underneath from UV rays. We can remove and re-install your system if you need to replace your roof later, but it’s an added expense. If your roof needs replacing in the next five to 10 years, we’ll recommend doing that before installing solar.

How do I get started?

Request a free estimate or reach out through our contact form. We’ll prepare an estimate using satellite and low-flight plane imagery to give you a rough idea of system size and cost. Next, we’ll provide a detailed quote and design for your property with several options, so you can choose the best fit. Once you’ve chosen your products, we take a small deposit, handle all required permits, order the equipment and schedule your install date.
